FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1

Q: What is microblading?

A: Microblading is semi-permanent makeup that enhances your brows naturally. Numbing is applied prior to the procedure. With the use of a blade and pigment, I create “hair like strokes” that mimic the look of brow hairs! This is a great option if your brows are sparse (lacking hair) if
you want to achieve a fuller looking brow and or correct asymmetry (even them out/more
symmetrical).

2

Q: How long does microblading take?

A: The length of time varies but usually up to 3 hours. When you come in for your touch up
appointment in approximately 5-7 weeks, the touch up procedure lasts about 1 hour.

3

Q: Can I get my brows waxed beforehand?

A: You must refrain from getting them waxed for at least one week BEFORE microblading and wait at least 4 weeks AFTER having them microbladed

4

Q: When can I get botox?

A: You should wait at least 2 weeks after getting botox. It’s recommended to get microblading done before botox to avoid the risk of distortion of your brows once the botox settles

5

Q: How long does it take to heal?

A: The healing process varies depending on factors like your age, skin type, and overall health.
And can take anywhere from 4-8 weeks to fully heal.

6

Q: What should I expect during the healing process?

A: light flaking and scabbing is to be expected DO NOT PICK you may start experiencing this
by day 2 scabs (if any) will flake bit by bit over the course of 7-14 days

7

A: It is advised that you wait 10-14 days before applying makeup to the area. keeping the skin clean and free from cosmetics is important to the healing process and to prevent infection

8

Q: When can I get them wet? (i.e. wash them, workout/sweat, go swimming, use the sauna)

A:

● You can wash them 5 days after the procedure (keep in mind when moisture gets
trapped in a scab it appears white which is normal and not to be alarmed as this is also
part of the healing process)
● Avoid hot and sweaty exercise for 7 days
● Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds (please don’t use these) for 2 weeks after procedure
● Avoid heavy sweating & long hot showers for the first 10 days
● Avoid swimming, lakes, & hot tubs for the first 10 days
● Do not rub, pick, or scratch your eyebrows

9

Q: How long do I have to wait before I can get a touch up?

A: 5-7 weeks (sometimes 4-6 depending on your retention)

10

Q: Does it hurt?

A: While some people feel no discomfort at all, others may find the procedure a little uncomfortable. Topical anesthetics are used prior to and throughout the treatment in order to alleviate any discomfort.

11

Q: What should I use to wash my face?

A: a very gentle cleanser. I recommend my clients use vanicream gentle cleanser (can be purchased online or over the counter at your local walgreens, cvs, target). It’s a great facial cleanser for all skin types including acne prone. It’s free of any dyes, parabens, fragrances, etc.
(Avoid using any products with actives such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid, or retin-A during the healing process)

12

Q: How long does semi permanent makeup last?

A: Permanent makeup may last many years, however, the average longevity varies between 1-3
years. The longevity of color depends on a person’s age, skin type and condition, aftercare treatment, sun, and other external factors.

13

Q: I got my eyebrows microbladed and it didn’t last as long as they said it would. Any idea why that could be?

A:
● Contributing factors include pigment color (the lighter the color, the faster it will fade)
● lifestyle (sun exposure will speed up the pigmentation fading process; always put SPF 30 on your eyebrows)

● iron deficiencies (if you’re iron deficient, your body can absorb the pigment as an
supplement which will cause the pigment to fade faster)
● age (if you’re young, your skin cell turnover is faster so the pigment will last longer)
